Responsibilities under the guidance of the Senior Geologist:Work Product 1 - perform geological research including reading and summarizing of scientific papers particularly related to the genesis and transformation of amphibole and serpentine minerals; use polarized light (PLM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) to analyze metamorphic rocks and minerals; perform scientific writing to create reports, some of which are to be published, as well as reports to be used for internal purposes.Work Product 2 - oversee the TEM lab including other more junior analysts, review lab generated data mineralogical data, organize data and compile into custom analytical reports, as well as various other activities.Experience:Master's or PhD degree in geology or a related fieldStrong knowledge of geologic and mineralogical principles, theories, and methodologiesExperienced with TEM, PLM, XRD & SEM analysisAbility to work independently and as part of a teamExperience with data analysis and interpretationExcellent written and verbal communication skillsJob Type: ContractPay: $30.00 - $50.00 per hourExpected hours: 30 – 40 per weekSchedule:Choose your own hoursExperience:TEM, PLM, XRD &/or SEM: 2 years (Required)Ability to Relocate:Emeryville, CA 94608: Relocate before starting work (Required)Work Location: In person
