Here is what we can tell you about this position:THE WORKProduces code that is clear/simple, modular, loosely coupled, of low complexity, cleanly documented, meets requirements, and is testable.Frequently contributes to and reviews code in important, core, and complex components and frameworks. Strong communication skills to distill complex information to various technical and non-technical stakeholders effectively and efficiently.influences others to choose proper off-the-shelf software frameworks and libraries when needed. Demonstrates a strong ability to identify complexities that can be broken out into reusable components.Understands the testing approach and uses quality metrics to identify gaps. Works with the department to recommend solutions that are in accordance with the accepted testing framework and testing pyramid. Champions department-wide testing strategy.Designs, documents, and builds simple and scalable solutions for complex problems with elegant and reusable architectures resulting in modular multi-system services, functions, or workflows that are resilient, maintainable, easy to monitor, and pioneer best practices for engineers. NEEDED EXPERTISEBachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent education and experience (professional certification is a plus). 8+ years of backend software development experience, including service-based component design and development.Expertise in RDBMS data modeling and query optimization, e.g., PostgreSQL or Snowflake.Strong proficiency in Python, the primary language for the Shared Services team.Preferred AWS expertise, with emphasis on Lambda, Aurora, API Gateway, and S3.Experience in building low-latency APIs following standards like AsyncAPI or OpenAPI.Proficiency in using SSO for authentication services, such as Auth0, OAuth, or SAML.Strong system design skills with knowledge of monolithic and microservice architectures, including the ability to evaluate architectural tradeoffs.Experience proposing and developing component interfaces, designing contracts, configuring synthetic monitors, and ensuring comprehensive system observability.Working knowledge of highly scalable distributed and cloud-native databases.Proven experience in technical leadership and ownership of software components and codebases.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with internal and external stakeholders.Familiarity with standard Git processes and experience with CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployments.Proficiency in building test suites and using test frameworks.Nice-to-have experience in Apache Kafka, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
