Postdoc Research Associate - Chemical Engineer

The Chemical Engineering Postdoctoral Research Associate will contribute to SRNL’s environmental protection mission by applying science and engineering to accelerate closure and reduce risk at active cleanup sites for the Department of Energy’s Office of Environmental Management (DOE-EM). The postdoc will be responsible for performing and documenting laboratory applied science experimentation in the field of radioactive and hazardous material processing, stabilization, and characterization to enable nuclear materials processing, site cleanup, and waste disposition across the DOE complex.

The postdoc will prepare and analyze various simulant and radioactive waste tank matrices in support of DOE-EM directives. Work scope may include process support of operating facilities at the Savannah River Site and throughout the DOE complex to include chemical characterization, interrogation of chemical reaction thermodynamic or kinetic modeling, expansion of scientific boundaries in nuclear knowledge and processes, process optimization, integration, and/or process troubleshooting of current site or DOE complex processes, nuclear material disposition experimentation, and development of reclamation processes.
