The candidate will be involved in the biochemical characterization of biomolecular interactions for biologics, peptides, and small molecules drug discovery. The scientist will work at the bench, under supervision, in an experienced and dynamic team which supports chemists’ and biologists’ work. A high propensity for teamwork, excellent communication skills, proclivity to acquire new competences and proactive attitude are required.Key responsibilitiesDesign and execute experiments to timely reach the objectives under supervision.Accurately record, analyze, summarize, and present data.Perform periodic quality maintenance on instruments and related equipment.Maintain high laboratory standards with regards quality and safetyEstablish productive working relationships with all team members; interact across cross-functional groups.Competencies/SkillsExperience in biochemical or biophysical techniques to study protein/protein or protein/small molecules interactions. Research Geophysicist

A research geophysicist in either the Moffett Field or Pasadena, CA, field office, to conduct research focused on crustal deformation and seismic hazard using Global Navigation Satellite Systems.As a Research Geophysicist within the Earthquake Science Center, some of your specific duties will include:Conceiving, planning, and conducting research on topics related to earthquake cycle deformation and seismic hazards.Conducting research aimed towards constraining strain accumulation and release, earthquake rupture processes and sources of aseismic deformation using GNSS geodetic techniques.Curating and utilizing rapid response datasets.Advancing novel geodetic techniques such as Wave Glider-based seafloor surveying (GNSS-A), and optical measurements.Mentoring and advising postdoctoral researchers conducting research on related topics in geodesy, crustal deformation, and earthquake physics.Actively engaging with and communicating scientific results to external partners and end-users on topics related to ground deformation and seismic hazard.QualificationsApplicants must be U.S. Citizens.BASIC EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: To be eligible for the Geophysicist GS-1313 series, applicants at all grade levels must satisfy the basic education requirement as outlined in A or B below.A.
