Job Description

We are seeking an experienced heavy equipment maintenance operative with experience in Herrenknecht microtunnelling equipment for a permanent position.


This mechanic role performs preventive maintenance, perform diagnostics and make repairs on equipment in the safest, most effective way possible to avoid downtime. The supervisor also supervises and trains other mechanics. Our equipment varies but primarily include microtunnel boring machines, separation plants, lubrication and grout plants, centrifugues, large generators as well as excavators, cranes and general construction equipment.

Education or experience required for this role:

• High school diploma or GED required, some trade school or equivalent training desired

• 1-5 years of mechanic experience with similar microtunnel equipment, applicant must be a competent welder and have experience performing specialised welding on MTBM equipment and pipework.

Language of work is English.


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities required:

- May need to provide mechanic’s tools of the trade.

- Advanced knowledge of hydraulic systems & troubleshooting skills

- Advanced knowledge of electrical systems & troubleshooting skills

- Ability to be flexible with changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

- Ability to operate the equipment in order to diagnose issues

Troubleshoot and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions, Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required, Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications, Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work, Service attachments and working tools, Speciliast in welding onsite in difficult conditions.


The physical demands of this role require bending, squatting, crouching, reaching, lifting 50 pounds or more, and working indoors/outdoors when required by the job.
