Job Description

We are currently seeking a Part-time Technical Translator (Brazilian Portuguese – English) working to support our team working remotely out of offices through the US.

This would be a remote position, though visits may be required to our offices in California and Washington as well as to Brazil. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse and innovative group that is establishing cyber security plans for power generating facilities. In this role, you would be responsible for the translation of technical documents, such as machine instructions, into a different language as well as other translation services for the team for the duration of the project.

Responsibilities (including but are not limited to)

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for Brazilian language and culture.
  • Translate technical documents between Portuguese and English. The documents will cover the topical area of cyber security plans and policies.
  • Provide written translations for project correspondence (emails, project documents, etc.).
  • Provide simultaneous or consecutive interpreter support during meetings and other instances where verbal communication is needed.
  • Travel occasionally to Brazil to provide translation and interpreter support.
  • Assist with other project-related activities, as needed.

Required Qualifications / skills

  • Fluency in Portuguese (Brazil) and English: strong written and communication skills in both Portuguese and English, and a strong knowledge of Brazilian culture.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate both Brazilian Portuguese to English and English to Brazilian Portuguese in a professional capacity, including when industry-specific terms may not have an equivalent in a different language.
  • Bachelors Degree or advanced certification in a technical discipline such as engineering, computer science, or cyber security.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in both written translation and interpretation activities
  • Strong understanding of cultural differences and expectations between US and Brazilian counterparts.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Good writing, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to be an individual contributor and work effectively in teams.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment and random drug and alcohol screenings; ENERCON and client-specific background checks; and an annual motor vehicle record (MVR) according to company and client policies.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally (Brazil) between 15-25% of the time; duration of travel may vary depending on project and client needs, ranging from a few days to a few weeks.

Preferred Qualifications / skills

  • Experience with IT security topics including policies and procedures.
  • Technical field experience in translation and interpretation.


Must be legally eligible to work in the US without current or future sponsorship.
