We are responsible for the transition from conventional powertrains to electromobility and to secure a stepwise implementation in different segments/regions. We develop and drives the electromobility product portfolio for Trucks & Buses as well as creating opportunities for all business areas within Volvo Group. The importance of electromobility is growing every day and a key component within the electrified powertrain is the Energy Storage System (ESS). At our section, we are accountable for the lifecycle management of the ESS, from advanced engineering, throughout product development into the maintenance phase.

To the ESS ( Energy Storage System) section we now recruiting a system safety manager to the ESS strategy and Platform group

We are responsible to develop complete ESS functionality realized by HW and SW solutions. You will be part of an agile and approachable organization with skilled product teams consisting of passionate people. What will you do?

You will be responsible for system safety in ESS, evaluating our system solution during development and verification. You will work closely with function owners, battery safety specialist to ensure zero safety incidents after launch of projects. Manage the safety attribute within ESS e.g secure that safety requirements are broken down and addressed and ensure that applicable standards are used. You continuously need to evaluate and summarized the system safety status and present to ESS Management and project management. You will participate in reviews and risk analyses and balance with internal stakeholders.

Since the area is in an early phase, it is important that you are flexible and enjoy working in a changing environment. You have a broad knowledge and experience of both Electrical, Mechanical and functional development. We believe that solid knowledge of a Battery system (ESS) as well as experience from leading system safety work is very important.

  • Master of Science in Mechatronics, Electrical or Mechanical engineering.
  • 6 years’ experience from System safety within automotive systems.
  • 4 years’ experience from design within Energy Storage Systems design
  • confident in evaluating safety on battery technologies/systems within the application of electric vehicles

It is considered a merit if you have experience within one or several of the following: Volvos DVP process, Agile Principals and methods.
