Job Description

Position Detail: Journeyman, Workshop

E. Penderleith & Co. designs and fabricates millwork, cabinetry, furnishings, and environments to meet the needs of the diverse architectural and interior design, construction, and furniture industries. Position Purpose and Scope: Workshop based Woodworker/Metalworker on a wide variety of projects for high end residential, retail, and commercial applications. Position is full time, hourly compensation, with occasional late nights or weekends when needed to meet the challenges of this Industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Fabrication, assembly, and finishing through various materials, techniques and processes
  • Collaborate with Project Management and Workshop Foreman on engineering/design
  • Plan for ways to use material efficiently and limit waste
  • Manage task progress to ensure completion within Project Timeline while maintaining high quality standards
  • Contribute to overall team morale
  • Aid Workshop Foreman on training entry level staff
  • Creatively solve problems and help to develop best practices for Workshop Standards and Operations

Prerequisites:

  • 3+ years of relevant woodworking and/or metalworking experience; Furniture, sculpture, or high-end architectural experience preferred
  • Proficiency of techniques, tools, and processes involved in either wood fabrication, joinery and finishing, or TIG/MIG welding and working of mild steel, aluminum, and brass.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills
  • Ability to read and interpret shop drawings; create cut lists
  • Ability to work both independently and with a team, as well as adapt to changes in workflow
  • Artistic Skill a plus
