Locatedon a compact but scenic waterfront campusin Vallejo, California, California State University Maritime Academy (Cal Maritime) is a unique and specialized campus of the 23-campus California State University system. Serving 1000 students, we are one of only seven degree-granting maritime academies in the United States - and the only one on the West Coast.

    A key part of the campus experience is the annual training cruise aboard our 500-foot Training Ship Golden Bear . She serves as a floating classroom/laboratory where classroom concepts in marine transportation, engineering and technology are practiced and applied. School-sponsored, study-abroad trips provide those studying international business, logistics, maritime security and maritime policy with a first-hand exposure to those practices in locations around the world.

    The successful candidate will:

    • be responsible for purchasing, menu compliance, inventory, food cost analysis and food production forecasting;
    • ensure Sodexo Culinary standards including recipe compliance and food quality are implemented;
    • have the ability and willingness to develop and motivate team members to embrace culinary innovations;
    • ensure food safety, sanitation and workplace safety standard compliance; and/or
    • have working knowledge of automated food inventory, ordering, production and management systems.

    Who are we?

    This is a full-time position. $15 per hour. Various shifts available in morning, afternoon and evening.

    Set up and break down meeting rooms according to event orders, as well as, maintains cleanliness standards for equipment and meeting rooms.

    What you will have an opportunity to do:

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • No experience required.

    • Must be able to lift, push and pull 70+ pounds.

    • Must be in process or have completed the vaccine process for COVID-19 by time of job offer, and be willing to stay fully vaccinated (fully vaccinated means completing all doses of COVID-19 vaccine including any future booster requirements per schedule requirement of the CDC).

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    • Assemble and arrange conference equipment in conference rooms per event order.

    • Must be able to walk for long periods of distance and time, resulting in an average of 17,000 to 25,000 steps per shift.

    • Must be able to push, pull and lift a variety of conference tables and other equipment weighing 5-70 pounds; put risers into place each weighing 150 pounds; move chairs of various weights and styles.

    • Assemble and arrange conference equipment in conference rooms per event order and to the standard set by Conference Services management.

    • Daily thorough cleaning of classrooms, ballrooms and team rooms following proper cleaning standards including the removal of trash from meeting spaces and the restocking of meeting room supplies.
