Adheres to Nursing Policies and Procedures and Organizational Goals and Objectives.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesClinical PracticeProvides age appropriate care for the population served. Job DescriptionAccountabilities:Assist with initial and ongoing health assessments and maintenance of patient’s health. Observe, measure and record patient’s temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure and, when necessary, blood sugar level.Report changes in patient’s condition to the supervisor. When assigned to operation theatre, assists medical professionals (Surgeons/Anesthetists) during operations. This involves preparing equipment/ instruments needed, maintaining constant supply of equipment during the operation and dispatching specimens collected during operation to pathology laboratory with appropriate label / instructions. Operate specialized equipment, as necessary, including cardiac monitors and ventilators. Provide professional nursing care to pre/post-natal and laboring mothers, which include preparing them for delivery (Female only). Attend to the nursing needs of premature babies in incubators, monitoring their condition and reporting any changes / irregularities to supervisor (Female Staff only). Oversee patients during meal times and ensure that the correct type of diet prescribed by the physician is given.Assist with special feeding requirements as necessary such as nasogastric procedures. Administer first aid treatment in emergency situations whilst awaiting medical assistance and prepares equipment that may be required such as resuscitation trolley, oxygen & suction apparatus. Accompany patients, when required, between wards/units eg. X-ray and / or physiotherapy. Perform all nursing functions related to Hospital Information System (HIS).
